Kartli Historical Tour
A private tour takes off in the capital and largest city of Georgia – Tbilisi. Participants of this tour will enjoy sightseeing in Tbilisi and historical town of Mtskheta with its two sites of UNESCO World Heritage, visit the museum of Joseph Stalin in Gori and explore the ancient cave complex of Uplistsikhe. “Kartli Historical” tour is accompanied by a highly professional and experienced guide and driver.
Arrival at Tbilisi International Airport. Transfer to the hotel.
Overnight in Tbilisi.
After breakfast at the hotel we start Tbilisi city tour.
First we visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi (Sameba) – one of the tallest orthodox Christian churches in the world and tallest in Georgia.
From here tour continues to Narikala fortress – we take an aerial cable car from Rike Park and get to the hill where Narikala Fortress is situated. Narikala was built in 4th century and served as a main fortification of Tbilisi for centuries.
From Narikala we stroll down to the old city, and visit Legvtakhevi canyon and waterfall, Sulfur bathhouse district, walk along the Shardeni and Erekle II streets and get to the Maidan square. These areas are full of outdoor cafes, bars, art galleries and souvenir shops.
From Maidan we move to the glass Bridge of Peace and continue towards the Rustaveli avenue, to pay a visit to the Georgian National Museum.
The museum preserves national heritage and presents numerous rich archaeological, numismatic, ethnographic and contemporary art collections.
Overnight in Tbilisi.
After breakfast we at the hotel we drive to Mtskheta. Located on the crossroads of Europe and Asia, Mtskheta used to be the capital of the Eastern Georgian kingdom of Iberia from the 4th c. BC until the 5th c. AD. Town is famous for two of its UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, built in the 11th century, and Jvari monastery, built in the 6th c.
From Mtskheta we continue our trip to Gori – a town where we are going to visit the museum of Joseph Stalin. Museum consists of Stalin’s memorial house, exposition building with tower and personal room with belongings.
Last and not least, we head to explore ancient cave complex of Uplistsikhe, located near Gori. Uplistsikhe is a complex carved in stone, which represents one of the oldest urban settlements in Georgia.
In the evening drive back to Tbilisi.
Overnight in Tbilisi.
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the Airport. Departure. End of service.
