Let us introduce you to the continuous tradition of Qvevri (pitcher) production in Kakheti region. Jakeli winery, Kbilashvili family qvevry manufacture, Lekso’s wines in Akhmeta and Shumi winery in Tsinandali.
Tour combines visit to small, family-owned wine cellars that produce limited addition of exclusive wines based on Kakhetian winemaking methods. Taste the varieties of qvevry wines and discover your favorite taste of Kakhetian wino aged according to the traditional winemaking technologies, reflecting in wine`s color, aromas and aging potential.

The village Vardisubani is located next to the town Telavi. Historically, the village is well known for manufacturing egg-shaped earthenware vessel used for making, aging, and storing the wine in underground. These vessels locally are named Qvevry and are listed by UNESCO as intangible World Heritage.
Visit two winemakers' families here.
Kbilashvili’s family is the one, who keeps manufacturing traditions that spans for 4 generations. Get acquainted with qvevri making by master Zaza, taste a glass of qvevri wine and continue to the next site.
Jakeli Organic Vineyard and Wines is also a family-owned company. The Jakeli family focuses on biological viticulture. After getting introduced to their story, taste 3 types of wine (2 white, 1 red), chacha, and enjoy delicious appetizers.
Continue exploring qvevri wines on the North part of Kakheti region. Visit Lekso`s Winery in a small village Akhmeta. Lekso, a local winemaker is producing unusual blending of unique Kakhetian grape varieties Khikhvi and Kisi with high and balanced alcohol. He gives information about his winemaking history and technologies.
Delightful lunch will be served after the wine tasting.
Drive to Tsinandali, Georgia’s famous wine-making region, Shumi produces a wide range of grape-based alcoholic beverages and foods, including some with patented technologies which exist nowhere else in the world. With its philosophy of quality and innovation Shumi is the first company in Georgia first to utilize and develop biodynamic and green harvest methods and to produce certified organic wines.
