Itinerary

Day to day

Pick up from the hotel.

The village Vardisubani is located next to the town Telavi. Historically, the village is well known for manufacturing egg-shaped earthenware vessel used for making, aging, and storing the wine in underground. These vessels locally are named Qvevry and are listed by UNESCO as intangible World Heritage.

Visit two winemakers' families here.

Kbilashvili’s family is the one, who keeps manufacturing traditions that spans for 4 generations. Get acquainted with qvevri making by master Zaza, taste a glass of qvevri wine and continue to the next site.

Jakeli Organic Vineyard and Wines is also a family-owned company. The Jakeli family focuses on biological viticulture. After getting introduced to their story, taste 3 types of wine (2 white, 1 red), chacha, and enjoy delicious appetizers.

Continue exploring qvevri wines on the North part of Kakheti region. Visit Lekso`s Winery in a small village Akhmeta. Lekso, a local winemaker is producing unusual blending of unique Kakhetian grape varieties Khikhvi and Kisi with high and balanced alcohol. He gives information about his winemaking history and technologies.

Delightful lunch will be served after the wine tasting.

Drive to the village Napareuli. Kakheti vineyards are cultivated on the river valleys of Iori and Alazani and makes up 80% of Georgia`s vineyards. The region is known with the most widespread Saperavi, Rkatsiteli and rare, endemic grape varieties. Twin brothers collected huge information about endemic vines, they constructed and expanded family winery & vineyards and established very interesting wine museum. All prosses from the first stage up to the ending of traditional production is displayed here. The tour will take about 20 minutes.

Drive back to Telavi.
