2 Day Kakheti Wine Tour
This wine tour takes you to Kakheti – the main winemaking region of Georgia. The burning sun of this region, fertile lands, valleys and hard work of the local farmers have developed about 500 varieties of vine throughout the country. Visit 5 different wineries located in various villages and towns of Kakheti, taste both Georgian Kvevri and European wines and enjoy beautiful nature.
Morning pick-up from the hotel and departure to Kakheti province. Our first stop is Signagi – a town overlooking the Alazani valley from the hills and surrounded by the medieval curtain walls. Take a short walk in Signagi, and afterwards drive to Velistsikhe and visit local wine cellar and museum of Numisi.
Have a lunch in Numisi and taste red and white Kvevri wines.
Trip continues to Kvareli. You are going to visit a wine cellar located in a tunnel dug out in the flank of the Greater Caucasus Mountains, and taste amazing European wines. The temperature in the Tunnel stays ideally at 12-14°C throughout the year. It integrates two main tunnels, which are linked by 13 galleries. The total length of the tunnels is 7.7 km.
From there, continue to Telavi – an administrative centre of Kakheti. Here you are going to have a dinner at a local guesthouse with homemade Kvevri wines.
Dinner and Overnight at Telavi family guesthouse.
After breakfast, continue the exploration of Kakheti. First, visit local farmers’ market at Telavi, where you can purchase local fruits, homemade wine, Georgian vodka “Chacha”, cheese and bread, Georgian traditional sweet – “Churchkhela”, and fresh fruits.
