Geogian Museum of Fine Arts - Art House

Art House is massive, contemporary eclectic complex in front of the Georgian Parliament building in Tbilisi. A huge statue of an eagle on its façade represents a copy of a small bronze sculpture from archaeological excavations of Vani, while its interior is designed with stainless steel and glass structures.

The first National Gallery was opened on the Rustaveli Avenue in 1920, and was destroyed during the war in 1991-1992. Art House is built exactly on the place where the Artists’ House was located and now it includes three buildings that combine public cultural exhibit areas. The museum was founded by Dr. George (Gia) Jokhtaberidze and Manana Shevardnadze and is designed to support, preserve and promote contemporary Georgian fine arts. It displays a collection of 3,500 artworks by almost 80 Georgian notable artists of the last 70 years. The visitors can also enjoy the Museum Café and the Museum Shop, also the Art House which consists of restaurants, cafes, a lounge, a swimming pool, a fitness club, and a Georgian designers’ boutique.
