Anaklia Black Sea resort
Anaklia is a seaside resort, at an elevation of 3 meters above sea level, 30 kilometers from Zugdidi, Samegrelo. Resort is situated at the place, where River Enguri joins the Black Sea. The place has become a popular destination for tourists for several years.
Coast of Anaklia is about 8 km in length, and in the distance of more than 1 km, there’s the resort promenade, and some comfortable hotels are placed along it. The beaches in Anaklia are sandy in contrast to the beaches in Batumi and Kobuleti. Since the settlement is small, the place isn’t polluted, so the sea is clean.
The longest pedestrian bridge in Europe is located in Anaklia. The length is 552 meters. It is built over the river Enguri and it connects the resort to other villages. One of these villages is Ganmukhuri.
Ganmukhuri is a place where Kazantip - the electronic music festival was held in 2014, and since 2015 the GEM fest (Georgian Electronic Music Festival) is held. The festival lasts for several days. The festival is one of the most important reasons why Anaklia has become so popular place among the young generation.
The largest Aqua park in Georgia can also be found in Ganmukhuri.
In 2016, in Georgia decided to build a new deep-water port in Anaklia, close to the failed project of Lasik. New port project was developed by a Consortium of development of Anaklia, a joint Georgian – United States enterprise. Construction began in December 2017. In July 2018, a Dutch marine contractor van Oord has been selected to start dredging and reclamation works.
