About Attraction

Diklo

Diklo village belongs to historical Tusheti. This is a real paradise for nature lovers. The most attractive trails for horse riding and trekking go through Tusheti. Stunning panoramic views around!

Harsh climate, difficult road conditions and isolation made the village empty in winter season, which starts sometimes in September and the passes are not open until next June-July. This depopulated village offers tranquility, freedom and fresh mountain beauty. The ruins of the Diklo fortress overlooks the village. There are some shepherd’s summer shelters, sheep and one simple guesthouse, with very nice and hospitable host offering the basic facilities, homemade dairy products and hot meals. It is available to make a camp nearby or to book overnight here in advance.

Diklo today is an administrative unit of Akhmeta municipality, Kakheti region. It is situated in Tusheti’s Alazani river valley between the Greater Caucasus and Tusheti mountain ranges. To reach the area you need 4x4WD Jeep.

Driving distance from Akhmeta is 101 km (3h 22 min); from Omalo – 10.5 km (39 min);
