Golden Lake

Golden Lake is a purpose-built rowing lake located in Samegrelo, near the city of Poti, at the river Maltakva. It was artificially designed as a sailing channel for training and Competitive Tournament Water Skiing, in accordance with Olympic standards, and has attracted water sports enthusiasts since then. The length of the lake is approximately 1000-1200 meters, the width-about 120-150 meters and the depth in the middle is 4-6 meters. The lake is divided into two parts by a special net. The first part is full of fish and cleaned of perch, while the second part is inhabited by perch. Various species like carp, amur, karchkhana, shamaya, mullet, and sturgeon live in the Golden Lake.

In 1991, the European Championship in rowing was held on this lake.
