National Archives of Georgia

The National Archives of Georgia is situated in the central district of Tbilisi – Saburtalo, on Vazha Pshavela avenue.
National Archives of Georgia was founded in 1920, under the Democratic Republic of Georgia. Separately, the Central Archive of the Contemporary History of Georgia was established later in 1927. In 2006, Central Historical Archives and National Archive of Kutaisi were included under the National Archives of Georgia.

Archive houses over five million different exhibits – written documents, film documents, photos, audio recordings, some of them as early as 9th century. National Archives is an important scientific institution as well, conducting scientific research of historical documents in the historical disciplines, such as Archaeography.
