Leave the city for the West Highway to the village Mukhrani. The first wine spot today is Chateau Mukhrani, one of the true Chateaus in Georgia with non-stop historical traditions, comprising a castle, vineyards, winery and stable. Excursion takes about 30 -40 minutes. Listen to the stories about the wine making by a Georgian royal family in the 19th century, look around the area and finally head to the cellar for wine tasting.
After the village Mukhrani, continue to discover other variety of Kartli grapes and wines. Drive to a wine cellar of Merebashvili's Marani, in a small town Kaspi. The host follows traditional technologies for producing, fermenting and storing unique artisan natural wines in underground qvevri vessels. The tour takes place in the vineyards, where the oldest and endemic grape varieties (Chinuri, Tavkveri, Goruli Mtsvane, Shavkapito, etc.) are cultivated. Wine tasting and delicious homemade lunch is arranged by family.
Next stop is the village Saguramo, Sevsamora Winery. This wine cellar is remarkable for organic vineyards and bio-organic winemaking technologies. Tour starts from the vineyards - 50 grape varieties are planted here. Continue in the wine museum, and eventually, in Marani (wine cellar) where visitors get introduced to the traditional winemaking process. Taste premium Qvevri wines, discover aromas of endemic grape`s origin and aromas of primary fermentation in Qvevri.
