Poti Museum of Colchian Culture

The Museum of Colchis or Kolkheti Culture is located in a hundred year old historical building and has been actively operating since 1933. The building stores archaeological discoveries made in Poti and thousands of ethnographic artifacts from 3000 BC, which represent Colchian culture dating to the early Bronze and Iron ages. There are items from the 3rd millennium BC and the 16th c AD, including Hellenic pottery and some golden coins of famous rulers from different periods: Alexander the Great, the Byzantine Emperor Justinian, the Russian Empress Elizaveta, and others, as well as objects of antique ceramics.
