Ioseb Grishashvili Tbilisi History Museum

Ioseb Grishashvili History Museum is located in the heart of the old city, close to other National Museums and tourist destinations. Founded in 1910 as a City Museum, the museum is currently named after well-known Georgian poet Ioseb Grishashvili. The museum houses up to 50.000 items that represent the capital's history, everyday life and culture. The artifacts displayed here include unique objects, weapons, various kinds of ceramic, musical instruments, numismatics, textiles and household accessories starting from the Bronze Age. Grishashvili Museum also houses a number of noteworthy paintings by distinguished Georgian artists, such as Lado Gudiashvili, Mose Toidze and Elene Akhvlediani.
