Wonders of Gareji, Bodbe & Sighnaghi in a Day

Just a short ride from Tbilisi, a land of legends and hidden wonders awaits. On this 10-hour adventure, we journey deep into Georgia’s heart—to the desert caves of Gareji, the sacred grounds of Bodbe, and the hilltop charm of Sighnaghi.

Our first stop is David Gareji Monastery, carved straight into sandstone cliffs in a sun-soaked semi-desert. As you walk through the ancient cells and chapels, it feels like the rocks themselves are whispering stories of monks and miracles. Locals say the wind here still carries the prayers of centuries past.

Next, we travel to Bodbe Monastery, where Saint Nino—the bringer of Christianity to Georgia—is buried. This peaceful nunnery overlooks the Alazani Valley and seems to float between heaven and earth. Many believe the nearby spring has healing powers, and the air is filled with the scent of cypress and quiet devotion.

Finally, we arrive in Sighnaghi, the “City of Love.” With cobblestone streets, pastel houses, and sweeping views of the Caucasus, it feels like stepping into a Georgian fairy tale. Legend has it that wishes made here—especially in spring—come true with the first breeze over the valley.

This isn’t just a day trip—it’s a journey through folklore, faith, and beauty. So lace up your shoes, bring your camera, and let’s go find the magic together.
