Alina Gamsakhurdia: First Georgian Woman on Everest

In a groundbreaking achievement for both Georgian alpinism and women’s history, Alina Gamsakhurdia has become the first Georgian woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Her successful ascent marks a historic milestone that places her among the world’s most elite climbers and symbolizes the power of perseverance, courage, and national pride.

Alina's journey to the world’s highest peak was not just a physical challenge but a deeply personal mission. Trained in Georgia’s rugged Caucasus Mountains, she has spent years climbing some of the most formidable summits in the region. Her dream of Everest, however, stood above all.

Supported by a dedicated team and months of preparation, Alina faced extreme weather, high altitude, and the ever-present risks of the Himalayas. On her summit day, she pushed forward through -30°C temperatures and thin air to finally stand at 8,848 meters above sea level—the top of the world.

Upon reaching the summit, Alina proudly raised the Georgian flag, dedicating her climb to all Georgian women and young girls with dreams that seem impossible. "This is not just my victory—it’s for all of Georgia," she said via satellite phone from Base Camp.

Alina’s triumph will be remembered not only as a sporting feat but as a cultural moment that breaks barriers and redefines what's possible. She now stands as a symbol of resilience and inspiration for generations to come.

Georgia celebrates a new kind of hero—strong, fearless, and climbing to new heights.
