About Attraction

Marani Elizbar

Marani Elizbar is a boutique hotel and a winery at the very heart of Kakheti, in the small village Kisiskhevi near Telavi town. The estate was built by David, the grandson of nobleman, winemaker Elizbar Turkestanishvili.

The first wine, Saperavi, was produced in Marani Elizbar in 2018. We strictly follow local enological traditions and produce a maximum of 4000 bottles according to ancient Georgian wine-making methods.

The uniqueness of our wine consists, among other things, in the long maturing time in underground qvevri, ancient clay barrels. After nine months, the wine is transferred to different qvevri and stored for maturing for another year. It is bottled without using absolutely any preservatives or additives.

The hotel and winery buildings and interiors were designed by David and Olga themselves.

We made a point of using local building materials such as traditional local stone and roof tiles. The hotel hosts a collection of oriental carpets and furniture gathered and curated over the years by David. Four sculptures devoted to the Georgian winemaking festival Rtveli are on display in the marani as well as two sculptures which originate from the Sarajishvili brandy manufacture.

We make every effort to enable our guests to immerse themselves in the ancient Georgian culture and its venerable wine and cuisine history. We prepare dishes based on locally sourced ingredients and our own produce. The meals are accompanied, of course, by our organic wines and infused with our care and hospitability.
