Feel the spirit of adventure under the realm of permanently white, huge peaks. You will experience both easy and moderate trekking in extraordinary nature of Svaneti and have an opportunity to observe medieval life of proud and independent Svan people.

Easy/Moderate trekking

Becho: easy,  5-6 h, single direction, max elevation 2200 m, upward climb 250 m
The Shkhara Glacier:  easy, 6 hours, single direction, max elevation  2500 m,
upward climb 300 m.
Mestia - the Cross Peak: medium, 4/5h, loop, single direction,  max elevation 2350 m,  upward climb 900 m
Guruldi range : 7-9 h, upward climb 900 m, max elevation 3300 m.

Day by day itinerary

Day 1: Tbilisi – Kutaisi – Engurhesi

Drive to Engurhesi, the highest (271 m) dam in Europe. The hotel is located beneath the dam in a beautiful picturesque setting. On the way, we will pass two ancient capitals: Mtskheta and Kutaisi.

Day 2: Engurhesi – Mestia  

Change the transport and drive to Mestia by Russian jeeps. Exciting and picturesque travel awaits us in the ravines of River Enguri. We will see churches with fascinating frescoes in Latali and Lenjeri.
Visit Mestia Ethnographical Museum where you can observe ancient manuscripts from 9-12th cc and wonderful collection of Georgian golden and silver icons.

Day 3: Mestia – Becho – Guli Glacier – Mestia

In the early morning we will hike to village Becho via Becho canyon (11 km) and approach Guli glacier (5-6 hours hike)
We will have Picnic lunch in a beautiful nature and return to Mestia by jeeps

Day 4: Mestia –  Ushguli

Travel to village Ushguli. The road is especially attractive. We drive over Ugveri pass.
Cross villages Ipari and Kala where you can find amazing 12th c frescos in tiny churches.
During the second half of the day we will explore untouchable medieval life in Ushguli – highest permanently inhabited village in Europe (2400 m from sea level), included in the list of UNESCO World heritage sights.
You will observe how local dwellers fight for survival in extremely difficult climatic conditions.

Day 5: Ushguli – Mestia

Visit Ushguli Ethnographical Museum, located in the traditional tower and medieval church Lamaria.
Hike for 2-3 hours to the foothills of the highest peak in Caucasus, Shkhara (5086 m)
Picnic lunch
Return to Mestia by jeeps
Dinner and overnight in Mestia

Day 6: Mestia – Tvebishi – Camps

Drive to village Tvebishi and hike 6 km to the waterfalls.

Day 7:Camps – foothills of Ushba – Mestia

In the morning hike to the foothills of Ushba peak.

Later we will return to Tvebishi and drive to Mestia by jeeps

Day 8: Mestia – Laghumi Village – Cross hill – camps

Hike to village Lagumi
Picnic lunch
Head to Cross pass
Dinner and overnight in camps near the cross pass

Day 9: Cross hill – Goruldi ridge

In the morning we will hike to Guruldi Gorge
7-9 h, upward climb 900 m, max elevation 3300 m.

Day 10: Guruldi Ridge – Mestia

Hike down to Mestia via beautiful Guruldi Canyon (5 hours), picnic lunch on the way

Day 11: Mestia – Zugdidi – Gori

Travel to Zugdidi by jeeps
Change transport and visit beautiful fortress in Nokalakevi. We will explore the ruins of the palace, tunnels, ancient bathrooms and etc.
Lunch at the traditional restaurant
Later we will drive to Gori, visit J. Stalin’s house museum and travel to ancient cave-town Uplistsikhe, cut out in rock in 1st millenium BC.

Day 12: Gori – Tbilisi

Travel to Tbilisi
Transfer to the Airport
