Mountain-skiing resort
Bakuriani is famous mostly as a mountain-skiing resort. International contests in winter sports have been conducted here since the time of Soviet Union.
Bakuriani is located on the northern mountainside of the Trialeti range, in the Small Caucasus system, 1700 m above the sea level. It is a mountain resort with specific climate where summer is temperately warm and winter - temperately mild.

Tracks and Ropeways
Main tracks are located on the slopes of the mountain Kokhta: Kokhta-1 is 1.5 km long, with downhill from 600m. Kokhta-2 is stretched on 3 km, includes some difficulties and ends in the village Didi Mitarbi (ropeway with two rows). There is a long skiing towrope (Tatrapoma) on the slope of the mountain that serves 1.7 km track: six for short skiing towrope and one short ropeway with chairs up to ski-jump. Skiing season starts in November and continues until March. The weather is sunny and windless, due to which you can frequently meet girls in bathing suits.
- "Kokhta-1", 1500 m long, has two grades. The upper one is quite difficult with 52° descent that is why it is not recommended for those who are not experts in skiing. If you are one of them, we suggest another track, Plateau. Kokhta-1 serves by ropeway with two seats.
- "Kokhta-2" (Tatrapoma, tow-tope) - two-graded track, where flat descents turn into rather comfortable descents.
- 90 m and 25 m ski-jumps
- Several tracks for beginners
- In January 2006 the newest track was constructed with ropeways and gondolas. It takes the start on Didveli (1857.5 m high) and ends on the Tskhratskaro Pass (upper station - 2170 m)
- Ropeway is 1600 m long. 33 gondolas go up and down in 5 minute intervals. Track has the length of 2000 m. and is of medium difficulty.
- The track serves with modern snow ploughs.
- A new, more difficult track with the ropeway and gondolas is open since December 25, 2006.
- One ascent with the ropeway costs Euro 1
- Daily season ticket for the ropeway costs Euro 8
