Travel to David Gareeji Monastery Complex via industrial city Rustavi. The classic short walk will take us through an abundance of sandstone colors and extraordinary medieval frescoes. We will visit Lavra Monastery from 6th century. Although this isolated group of monasteries is somewhat tricky to reach, their location, architectural uniqueness, history, and important frescoes will amply reward your efforts. Picnic Lunch near the site. Travel to Tsinandali and explore The State Museum of A. Chavchavadze. The house served as a center of intellectual life. A. Chavchavadze - famous poet and the beginner of Georgian romanticism belonged to the most talented and powerful families in all of Georgia. You will have a wonderful opportunity to explore the Tsinandali winery from 19th century and tour the vast cellars housing a library of wines. Drive to Telavi, an administrative and cultural center of Kakheti winemaking region. 19:00 Dinner and overnight at guesthouse in Telavi Day 2 09:00 Explore Televi Historical and Ethnographic Museum. The museum will display for you its treasures chronologically to give a view of Kakhetian history from Bronze Age tools to folk costumes still worn at the beginning of the 20th century. Travel to Shuamta - in Georgian "between the mountains". The isolated position of the two monasteries nestled in the densely forested hills, explains the name. Three churches stand on the grounds of Dzveli (old) Shuamta which used to be a famous place of pilgrimage throughout the middle ages until the founding of Akhali (new) Shuamta in the 16th century. Visit Gremi Monastery from 16th century.
