Day 1

09:00 Departure from Tbilisi
Explore the treasures of Georgia's ancient capital, Mtskheta. The town is included in UNESCO World Heritage Sites and serves as a living museum for various architectural and historical monuments.
Jvari (Cross) Monastery (6th c) presents a culmination of artistic and architectural aspirations in early Christian Georgian architecture.
Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th c) is one of the most sacred places in whole country; according to the legend Christ's robe is still buried there.
Samtavro Monastery Complex used to be the burial and coronation site of Georgian royal family. The complex has functioned as both a nunnery and a theological seminary of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
Arrive in Gori, in the birthplace city of J. Stalin and have an excursion in the house-museum of the Soviet dictator.

19:00 Dinner and overnight at Hotel in Gori.

Day 2

09:00 Visit Athenis Sioni 7th c. The monument is a true copy of Jvari Church in Mtskheta however has a totally different and tremendous setting, being surrounded by green hills. The main attraction of the temple is its interior. Amazing frescos from 12th century will reward you with the spirit of antiquity.
Drive to explore the Uplistikhe Cave City. Entire town with streets, churches, palaces, residential dwellings and storerooms was carved into the soft stone of the mountainside in the 1st millennium BC.
Lunch at local restaurant
Visit Khintsvisi Cathedral (8th c.), beautifully located on a picturesque mountain slope. The church is adorned with remarkable mural paintings portraying King Giorgi III, Queen Tamar and her son Lasha-Giorgi. Among these murals especially impressive is "The Angel of Kintsvisi".
Visit Samtavisi Church (11th c) which is one of the finest monuments of the epoch.
17:00 Return to Tbilisi
