Wine tour Feel the charm of life with Georgian wine Wine producing has such a long history in Georgia, that even after one day passed here you feel harmonious and somehow mysterious unity of wine with soul of local people. Vine as a symbol of the Sun - main godess of pagan times in Georgia, still remains favorite and most respected plant here. Wine can be considered also as the symbol of all Georgia, faith, statehood and Georgian hospitality, that is why love and worship of Georgians towards wine is infinite. World's experienced scientists do not argue over the fact that vine's homeland is Georgia. Archeologists have found grape leaves, stems and seeds from the Bronze-age tombs. Almost 500 varieties of wine has been discovered here. In the world only two ways of wine-making is known - georgian and european. Our trip includes visits to family wine-cellars in Kakheti, where you can feel the wormth and hospitality of local people. Overnight stays in family guesthouses in regions involve you in the wine making process. The most attractive period for visiting Kakheti - main wine producing region - is the harvest season in autumn "rtveli". Vintage is a real festive occasion and the best possibility to remember the traditions. Day by day itinerary Day 1: Late arrival. Meeting at the airport Rest at the hotel. Tbilisi - Mtskheta - Kutaisi Afternon Drive to Mtskheta, capital and religion center of East Georgian kingdom from 4th c. B.C. to 5 th c. A.D., visit Jvari monastery 6th c. and Svetitskhoveli cathedral 11th c., included in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. 13.00 Lunch near Gori. Visit cave-town Uplistsikhe, the most important pagan temple town 12 km from Gori. Visit Atheni Sioni church of 7th c with beautiful frescoes. Tasting wine "Atenuri" in the village Ateni at local house Drive to the ancient city and former capital of Western Georgia Kutaisi. 20.00 Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Kutaisi Day 2: Kutaisi - Zugdidi 9.00 After Breakfast we will visit UNESCO World heritage sights: Monastery complex and Academy of Gelati (12th c) and Bagrati Cathedral from 11th c. You will have an opportunity to observe archeological excavations near the sight. Drive to Zugdidi, administrative center of Samegrelo region. 13.00 Lunch at local restaurant. Excursion at Prince Dadiani Palace in Zugdidi. 19.00. Dinner with wine-tasting and overnight at guesthouse in Zugdidi Day 3: Zugdidi - Ambrolauri 9.00 After breakfast we'll drive towards one of the most beautiful regions of Georgia - Racha region, famous for high mountainous resorts and excellent wine Khvanchkara. Then we'll visit ancient king's residence in the village Barakoni and Nikortsminda Cathedral, excellent example of 11th c. religious architecture with ornaments. 13.00 Wine tasting in wine factory "Khvanchkara". 19.00. Overnight in regional center Ambrolauri at the guesthouse Day 4: Ambrolauri - Tbilisi 9.00 After breakfast we'll drive to Tbilisi. On our way we'll visit Samtavisi Cathedral of 11th c. 13.00 lunch en route near Gori. 19.00. Dinner in Mtskheta. Overnight in Tbilisi Day 5: Tbilisi - Telavi 09:00 After breakfast departure from Tbilisi to small town Signagi, surrounded by fortress. 13.00 Lunch Visit Gremi, ancient capital of Kakheti kingdom. 19:00 Dinner at wine factory "Kindzmarauli" in Kvareli. Overnight in Telavi Day 6: Telavi 09:00After breakfast we'll visit Alaverdi Cathedral, monastic life has begun here in 6 th c.; this cathedral was built in the beginning of 11 th c. Alaverdi was the most important religious and educational center in kakheti. 19.00 Visit wine company "Badagoni" and wine tasting with dinner. Overnight at the hotel in Telavi Day 7: Telavi - Tbilisi 9.00 After breakfast Visit Ikalto monastery complex, founded in 6th c. and Academy (founded in 12 th c.by Arsen Ikaltoeli), which was attended by pupils from noble and simple families. Visit Telavi Ethnographical museum. Visit Arivie-Georgia plantation of vine saplings. 13:00 lunch and degustation at private wine cellar of 200 years in the village Velistsikhe. After visit of Al. Chavchavadze house-museum and enoteque - 19 th c. wine collection. This palace was one of the cultural centers of Georgia, where were hosted many georgian and foreign poets, writers and artists. In the decorative garden on this territory grow over 1000 kinds of plants from many parts of the world. 19.00 dinner and wine tasting in "Kardenakhi" wine factory. Overnight in Tbilisi hotel Day 8: Tbilisi 9.00 After breakfast Tbilisi city tour. Visit Sarajishvili cognac factory.
