Hot! Day Trip to Gori, Uplistsikhe & Khintsvisi 86 km west of Tbilisi Gori is an industrial city in the Kartli province and the birthplace of the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. The city contains the House-Museum with the items related to the dictator's life. The cave-town Uplistsikhe - dates from the 6th c BC and is mentioned in the chronicles of the 1st c. A.D. The echoing halls, long meandering corridor-streets, chambers for pagan worship and even the remains of the oldest theatre in Georgia, all carved into the rocky plateau are waiting for you to be explored. After excursions in Stalin's museum and Uplistsikhe, picnic-lunch will be available near the site. Qintsvisi is a picturesque village in Kareli District on a hillside above the Dzama River valley. The cruciform domed Church of St. Nicholas dates back to 13th c. The interior is adorned with remarkable mural paintings portraying King Giorgi 3rd, Queen Tamar and her son Giorgi-Lasha.
