Day by day itinerary Day 1: Arrival. Transfer to the hotel. Day 2: Tbilisi full day Full day city tour, visit Old and new districts, Old Synagogue; Museum of Archaeology, Narikala Fortress (4th century); Sulfur bathes; Metekhi church (13th century); Anchiskhati basilica (6th century); Rustaveli Avenue, Funicular, Art Museum. Ethnographical museum. Dinner and overnight in Tbilisi Day 3: Tbilisi-David Gareja-Telavi Travel to David Gareji Monastery Complex via industrial city Rustavi. The classic short walk will take us through an abundance of sandstone colors and extraordinary medieval frescoes. We will visit Lavra Monastery from 6th century. Picnic Lunch near the site Travel to Tsinandali and visit The State house-museum of A. Chavchavadze. You will have a wonderful opportunity to see Tsinandali winery from 19th century and tour the vast cellars housing collection of wines. Drive to Telavi, an administrative and cultural center of Kakheti winemaking region. Dinner and overnight at guesthouse in Telavi Day 4: Telavi-Tbilisi Visit Telavi Historical and Ethnographic Museum. The museum will display for you its treasures chronologically to give a view of Kakhetian history from Bronze Age tools to folk costumes still worn at the beginning of the 20th century. Travel to Shuamta monastery complex of 6th c., which was famous place of pilgrimage throughout the middle ages until the founding of Akhali (new) Shuamta in the 16th century. Visit Gremi Monastery with frescoes from 16th century. Like other churches in Kakheti, Gremi Church is characterized by simplicity and unique light proportions. Visit Alaverdi Cathedral and Ikalto Academy and monastery complex. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Tbilisi. Day 5: Tbilisi - Mtskheta - Gudauri After breakfast Old Tbilisi sightseeing tour: Metekhi church 13th c., Narikhala fortress 4th c., sulfur baths, Sioni cathedral 6-13th c., Anchiskhati basilica 6th c. Funicular, After lunch we will visit State Art Museum. Then we will drive to Mtskheta, capital and religion center of East Georgian kingdom from 4th c. B.C. to 5th c. A.D., visit Jvari monastery 6th c. and Svetitskhoveli cathedral 11th c., included in UNESCO. After we'll drive to Gudauri. Dinner and overnight in Gudauri Day 6: Gudauri - Stepantsminda - Gudauri After breakfast we'll drive to Stapantsminda, Khevi region center, visit Gergethi Trinity Church; ethnographical museum and will walk towards Dariali Canyon. Dinner and overnnight in Gudauri Day 7: Gudauri - Gori - Engurhess After breakfast we'll drive to Ananuri fortress of 15th c. which is on our way to Gori, city where Stalin was born; visit Stalin's house-museum. Then we will visit temple town Uplistsikhe from 10th c. B.C. After that we will drive to Engurhes. Overnight at hotel in Engurhes Day 8: Engurhes - Mestia After Breakfast at hotel we will start driving to Mestia. We will change the coach for local (Russian) jeeps and drive to Mestia - very picturesque and dramatic drive along the Engury River. On our way we'll visit little churches with excellent frescoes of 10th-12th cc. in villages Latali and Lenjeri. Dinner and Overnight at Mestia Guesthouse Day 9: Mestia - Ushguli - Mestia You will find yourself in the realm of the towers, surrounded by the mountains of Great Caucasus Range, glaciers, high peaks and roaring waterfalls. The way to Ushguli is extremely attractive. You will cross little villages Ipari and Kala, where the spirit of medieval life is too strong and where the small churches comprise beautiful frescos inside of them. Picnic lunch on the route. In Ushguli - the highest village in Europe (2400 m.) you will feel yourself in Middle Ages. This village is in the list of UNESCO world heritage sites. We will visit Ushguli Ethnographical Museum, located in typical Svan tower and Lamaria church. Evening Drive back for Dinner and Overnight at Mestia Guesthouse Day 10: Mestia -Zugdidi - Kutaisi After breakfast at the family guesthouse, visit Mestia State Museum and drive back to Zugdidi. The first stop is Zugdidi, administrative center of Samegrelo region. Picnic Lunch on the route. In Zugdidi we will change jeeps for coach and drive to Kutaisi. Dinner and Overnight at Kutaisi Guesthouse Day 11: Kutaisi - Batumi After breakfast we'll visit Bagrati Cathedral of 11th c.and archaeological site, ancient place of king palace, Kutaisi city tour shortly, Gelaty monastery complex 12th. Dinner and overnight in Batumi Day 12: Batumi After Breakfast at the hotel excursion to the antique Gonio Fortress, where the fort of Roman legions was located in 1st c. Visit Batumi Ethnographical museum. Lunch at the restaurant Walk in Batumi Botanical Garden, where are collected plants from all parts of the world. In the evening walk along the Black Sea shore. Dinner and overnight in Batumi Day 13: Batumi - Aspindza After breakfast we'll travel to one of the most wonderful places of Meskheti region through beautiful Small Caucasus Range. On our way we'll visit Zarzma Monastery14 th c. and Sapara monastery 13th c. Dinner and overnight guesthoese in Aspindza Day 14: Aspindza - Vardzia - Tbilisi This day offers travelers an opportunity to explore 12th c cave city Vardzia, carved into the volcanic rocks on 13 levels, linked inside by internal corridors, secrete tunnels, painted chapels. All day we will drive along Mtkvari riverside. We will visit Khertvisi fortress on our way. Picnic lunch near the site Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Tbilisi Day 15: Transfer to Tbilisi airport. After breakfast, check out from the hotel.
