Armenia - Georgia - Azerbaijan South Caucasus countries possess many historical similarities because of the Great Silk Road passing here since 2 millenaries; but each country has its own culture, charm and peculiarity. Reveal the legends, stories and present activities of local people during your unforgettable trip. Day by day itinerary Day 1: Yerevan Transfer from Airport. Yerevan Sightseeing City Tour Cultural Program includes visits to the History Museum of Armenia, Cascade Complex for the city overview from its highest point. Lunch. Excurtion to Matenadaran - depository of ancient manuscripts. Dinner at the restaurant. Overnight at the hotel in Yerevan. Day 2: Yerevan- Dilijan- Lake Sevan Breakfast at the hotel. Then drive to visit Hellenic - Pagan temple of Garni (1 A.D.) and the cave monastery of Gueghard (13th century) another incredible ancient Armenian monastery, partly carved out of a mountain. Though the monastery has been around since before the 4th century, the main cathedral was built in 1215. Gueghard Monastery is also listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO. Drive to visit Haghpat Monastery, which is listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO. Old Bridge overview. Lunch. Continue trip to the high to mountainous and forested region of Dilijan and visit the magnificent complex of Haghartsin Monastery and Goshavank Monastery. Then drive to the mountainous Lake Sevan - the emerald of Armenia. Dinner with tasting local fish and white wine. Overnight at the hotel in Sevan. Day 3: Sevan - Yerevan Breakfast at the hotel. Sightseeing tour to the Sevan peninsula with Sevanavank Monastery (8-9 cc.). Drive to Areni village for local Red wine tasting and en rout visit Selim Caravanserai. Continue tour to Noravank Monastery - a great religious and cultural centre of 12th c. Lunch at Noravank. Then continue tour to Khor-Virap monastery., the place of pilgrimage of Armenians, with view of the twin peaks of Mount Ararat. Return to Yerevan. Dinner at a national restaurant in Yerevan. Day 4: Yerevan- Echmiadzin - Guimri Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Echmiadzin, visit The Holy See of Echmiadzin - built in 301-303 by St. Gregory the Illuminator is located in a walled compound with gardens and various structures. Visiting Gayane Church in Echmiadzin. On the way back to Yerevan visiting Zvartnots ruins (7th century). The cathedral had been standing for about 300 years and was destroyed by a disastrous earthquake. But even in ruins it has a majestic beauty. (Both - Echmiadzin and Zvartnots are listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO). Overnight at the hotel in Guimri. Day 5: Guimri Armenian - Georgian border-Vardzia- Bakuriani Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out from the hotel. On the way to Georgian border visit Amberd Fortress of 12-13th cc A.D. Transfer from Armenia border Bavra to South Georgia,. On the way visit Vardzia - cave city and monastery complex of 12th c. which in 13th c. became well defended monastery complex. The frescoes of 12th c are still well preserved; here you will find one of the images of King Tamara - the first woman who ascended to throne in feudal Georgia; Picnic lunch near the sight. Visit Khertvisi fortress of 10th c. on the route and drive to Bakuriani. Dinner and overnight in Bakuriani. Day 6: Bakuriani - Kutaisi Breakfast at the hotel in Bakuriani Drive to Spa resort Borjomi, taste mineral waters at Borjomi national park. Continue travel to west, pass Rikoti Pass - natural border dividing eastern and western Georgia. Drive to Kutaisi, second largest cities in Georgia. According to the ancient greek legend about the Argonauts, Kutaisi was the capital of Colchis Kingdom. Lunch. You will have a wonderful opportunity to taste western Georgian wine. After the lunch we will travel to explore Gelati Monastery Complex (8 km from Kutaisi). There we will find the building of 12th century Academy, beautiful frescos and Gelati mosaics. Later we will visit the ruins of Bagrati Cathedral (11th c) in the center of the city. (Both monuments are included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites.) Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Kutaisi Day 7: Kutaisi - Gori - Mtskheta- Tbilisi Breakfast at the hotel Drive to East Georgia. On our way we will visit the residence of king Demetre and 9th century chapel in the village Ubisa and observe wonderful frescos from 14th century. We will pass through the city of Gori and have an excursion at J.Stalin's house-museum. Lunch Later we will visit temple-town Uplistsikhe (12 km from Gori) with streets, churches, palaces, residential dwellings and storerooms carved into the soft stone of the mountainside in the 1st millennium BC. Pass through Mtskheta - ancient capital and religious center of Georgia. We will visit Jvari (cross) Monastery (6th c) and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th c). Both monuments are included in UNESCO World Heritage sights Drive to the Capital Tbilisi. Arrive in Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi Day 8: Tbilisi Breakfast at the hotel Visit the highlights of old and new city: Metekhi Church (13th c), Narikala Fortress (4th c) looking over the old town, Funicular and Park on the top of the main Mount, Sulfur bath-houses, Tbilisi Museum at Caravanserai, Sioni Cathedral (6-13cc), Anchiskhati Basilica(6th c) . Lunch Visit State Museum of History and see the Goldern Treasury of the Museum. Overnight in Tbilisi Day 9: Tbilisi - Lagodekhi border- Sheki Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Kakheti wine region. Transfer to Lagodekhi border. The Azerbaijanian guide and coach will pick the group up in the Lagodekhi, Georgia Azerbaijan border. Drive to Sheki. north-western part of Azerbaijan. Visit Caravanseray (Sheki khans Palace, XVIII century). Caravanseray is a rare combination example of national architectonics. Visit History Museum. Lunch in local restaurant. Leisure. Meals of cuisine of Sheki region. Overnight. Dinner in local Restaurant. Overnight at Karvansaray Hotel in Sheki. Day10: Sheki - Baku Breakfast at Hotel. Visit to Kish Albanian church. Drive to Shamakhi: Visit Juma Mosque, Yeddi Gumbez Tomb. Drive to Baku. Dinner at local Restaurant. Check in at the Hotel. After lunch excursion to the Temple of fire-worshippers "Ateshgah" (XVII century) in Surakhani, Fortress of XIII century (the height of the tower is 15 meters and it has 4 floors), the Mount with eternal fire. Dinner at the Azerbaijan restaurant with national show-program. Overnight at the hotel in Baku. Day 11: Baku - Gobustan - Baku Breakfast at Hotel. Journey to the stone century ("Gobustan" historic-architectural reserve) and visiting of Mud Volcanoes. Baku city tour. Excursion to the old city "Icheri sheher" after breakfast. Visiting of the complex of "Shirvanshahs Palace" (the residence of Shirvanshahs in XV century, one of the largest monuments of Azeri architecture, included into the list of monuments of the world legacy maintained by UNESCO), "Maiden Tower" (one of the defensive constructions of VII-XII centuries, the symbol of Baku, it had become a museum in 1964 and has been included into the list of UNESCO world legacy since 2000). Overnight in Baku. Day 12: Baku Breakfast at the hotel. Visit Azerbaijan State Museum of Art. After lunch visiting of Azerbaijan Carpet and national-applied Art Museum, then - visiting of Martyrs` Avenue situated in the highest place of city with wonderful view of city. Then we walk in the Seaside Boulevard. Visiting of Azerbaijan Historical Museum and walking in the Fountain Square. Meals of national cuisine at the restaurant in the evening. Overnight in Baku.
