Founded in the 5th c. AD on the site of hot mineral-water springs, Tbilisi was considered an important political, economic and cultural center of the Middle East. The Old Town is the most attractive part of the city, notable for its wonderful mix of cultures.
Meeting at Metro Station Avlabari Square. Take a stroll in old and new districts of Tbilisi and visit outstanding landmarks of our capital city. Ride up to Narikhala Fortress by the aerial cable car and admire the views of the city from high. Visit Caravanserai - Tbilisi History Museum. Take a walk on Rustaveli Avenue, where you can buy handicrafts and souvenirs. End of the tour on Freedom Square, nearby the Freedom Square Metro Station.
Sights to visit
Holy Trinity Sameba - the main Georgian Orthodox Christian cathedral, it is the largest religious building not only in Georgia but in the region of South Caucasus, and is listed among the largest Orthodox churches in the world. The cathedral was constructed between 1995 and 2004, as a "symbol of the Georgian national and spiritual revival".
Metekhi church 13th cc presents one of the most important architectural monuments of old Tbilisi.
Narikala Fortress 4th c dominates the Old Town as a most impressive architectural landmark. With its inaccessible slopes, the fortress served as a main fortification and defended the city for centuries. You may ride up to Narikhala Fortress by the aerial cable car and enjoy Tbilisi views from high.
Old Sulfur Baths with curative properties were commented by numerous travelers who visited the city.
Caravanserai (Tbilisi History Museum): The Museum collection contains unique objects weapons and household accessories starting from the Bronze Age.
Meidan square & Shardeni street neighborhood-famous for cozy cafes, bars, restaurants, souvenirs‘ shops, picture galleries.
Sioni Cathedral 6th c. the main cathedral of Georgia was destroyed several times because of the wars and has several construction layers. One of the Holy relics of Georgian people, cross of Saint Nino, enlightener of the country is kept in the temple.
The Bridge of Peace is the modern architectural glassy bridge in Old Town.
Anchiskhati Basilica 6th c is one of the oldest churches of Tbilisi. The first foundation dates back to 4th c. and is connected with the adoption of Christianity in Georgia.
