Day to day itinerary
DAY 1: TBILISI-TSALKA-JAVAKHETI NATIONAL PARK-VARDZIA
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Vardzia via the lakes Sagamo, Paravani and Tsalka, you can stop on the way here for photoshoot. Visit the Javakheti National Park. Javakheti Protected Areas was established in 2011. It consists of six of the country’s eight largest lakes Georgia: including Paravani, Khanchali, Bugdasheni, Kartsakhi, Madatapa and Sulda lakes. Considered as one of Birdlife International’s Bird Areas, Javakheti Protected Area is also rich in various bird species. Natural alpine forest composed of white birch, Caucasian mountain-ash, raspberry bushes and cotoneaster are found near the Kartsakhi lake parts on the Georgia-Turkey border. Arrive for dinner and overnight in Vardzia.
DAY 2: VARDZIA-AKHALTSIKHE-BORJOMI
Breakfast at the hotel; Explore the Vardzia cave town established in 12th c. The cave preserves one of the famous frescos of Queen Tamara – the first woman king of the feudal Georgia. Continue the exploration of the Javakheti region, drive to Akhaltsikhe for the sightseeing of Khertvisi fortress and Rabati. Rabati complex includes the beautiful castle of 14th c., churches, a museum and a mosque. The museum is rich in manuscripts, archaeological and numismatic collections, old printed books, photographic collections, etc.
Arrive in Borjomi spa-resort, have a nice walk in Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park and taste bubbling mineral waters from the springs. Borjomi Mineral waters have been famous since the 19th c. and are exported out to many countries. Overnight in Borjomi.
DAY 3: BORJOMI-UPLISTSIKHE-TBILISI
