Travel to High Caucasus Mountains during 8 day mountain bike tour to Georgia. Visit remote villages of Khevi region, ride on moderate and hard roads, experience the life of northern people, discover pristine alpine lakes, springs and waterfalls, taste delicious traditional Georgian dishes. End the journey with a relaxing bath in Tbilisi Sulfur Bathhouses and farewell dinner with folk show. The group is assisted with a vehicle during the trip.

Please Note! Off-road cycling experience is recommended, a good level of fitness is essential. The trip cars are available to give lifts whenever people wish. This itinerary may be changed at the discretion of the guide depending on weather conditions, physical ability of the cyclers and the trail options we decide together.

Day to day itinerary

  • Day 1. Arrival to Tbilisi

    Meeting at the airport. Transfer to the hotel.

    Overnight: Hotel in Tbilisi

  • Day 2. Tbilisi

    Difficulty: moderate

    Road: 6 km tarmac, 2km ground- gravel, off road trail

    After breakfast warm up bike tour in old Tbilisi and off road riding in botanical garden (8km). End the day with a welcome dinner at the Georgian traditional restaurant.

  • Day 3. Tbilisi - Truso Gorge – Arsha

    Approximate Ride distance: 35km

    Total Elevation: positive: 400m negative: 500m

    Difficulty: moderate hard

    Road: 12 km tarmac, 23km ground- gravel

    Early in the morning a vehicle will transfer us through Georgian military road and Jvari mountain pass to the beautiful valley of Truso guarded by old towers. Cycling starts from here. After a while we will face a big challenge of the day-300 m altitude rise on a mountain pass (2300m) to get to mineral water lakes and springs, after crossing the river route is laid on rocky trail descent in Truso canyon. Final part of tarmac road is laid through Tergi river valley with old villages and towers all around.

  • Day 4. Arsha - Sno river valley - Juta – Chaukhi - Juta

    Approximate Ride distance: 30 km

    Total Elevation: positive: 900 m negative: 500m

    Difficulty: hard (moderate)

    Road: 18-20 km ground-gravel, 10 km off road trail

    First part of the route is easy, laid through Sno valley followed by 300 m altitude ride up to Juta village (2200m). Last part is the hardest, which requires off road riding skills, we can choose to ride bike or continue by walk, trails are muddy and rocky, maybe even snow. Views are spectacular: Chaukhi mountain rocky peaks mixed with subalpine flowers and slopes with blooming rhododendron bushes and little crystal clear alpine lake. Max elevation 2600m.

  • Day 5. Juta – Stephantsminda - Gergeti

    Approximate Ride distance: 35 km

    Total Elevation: positive: 400m negative: 850m

    Difficulty: moderate

    Road: 5 km tarmac 30 km ground gravel.

    Route starts with more than 20km descent to Stephantsminda (1.900 m) town continued with challenging climb to Gergeti church (2.170m). Time for Mount Kazbegi (5.033 m) and Stephantsminda city sightseeing, enjoy Khevi cuisine.

  • Day 6. Stephantsminda – Devdoraki Glacier - Stephantsminda

    Approximate Ride distance: 30 km

    Total Elevation: positive: 1100 m negative: 1100m

    Difficulty: hard

    Road: 14 km tarmac 16 km off road trails.

    After easy descent in Dariali gorge on tarmac route follows off road trails up to Dariali glacier. We will be passing by beautiful fields and little lakes. On the backward way see Gveleti waterfall Just 1,5 km from main road. 

    Overnight: Guest House in Stephantsminda.

  • Day 7. Stephantsminda – Khada gorge - Mtskheta – Tbilisi

    Approximate Ride distance: 20 km 

    Breakfast at the hotel. Half day cycling in Khada gorge. Cover 20 km trail, with 700 m uphill ride.
    On the way to Tbilisi visit ancient town Mtskheta which contains 2 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Georgia – Jvari monastery of 6th c. and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral of 12th c. Have excursion in Mtskheta and drive to Tbilisi.
    Farewell dinner with folk show in a Georgian traditional restaurant.

  • Day 8. Tbilisi - Departure

    After breakfast transfer to the airport.
